Day 7 Rest Day Cendrieux (Andy & Helen)

We walked into the village for dinner last night with Andy, Helen and Andy's sister and brother in law (Alison and Gary) who have been staying with them this week. It's a lovely little village and we had a very pleasant evening catching up on each others' news.
We were given our own private gite to stay in, lovely and cool, very spacious and our top luxury/requirement for this holiday - a washing machine.

We had just two goals for today - relax and get our washing done. We also decided to head to the next village (back to the restaurant we went to yesterday lunchtime) for another menu du jour (yes, it was that good!!). This meant cycling though as it's 7km away so too far to walk. Max had serviced the bike so it was a good chance to test it out. We had another amazing lunch and wandered round the village for a while before heading back to the Gite. Downhill all the way there (great and very quick) meant uphill all the way back (hard and slow), but we agreed it was good to get back in the saddle which would otherwise be even harder after a day off. Plus it gave us a chance to burn off a few of the extra calories from lunch.
We spent the rest of the afternoon snoozing and relaxing by the pool and then had dinner with Andy, Helen Alison and Gary. Helen cooked us a fabulous meal and we sat outside on their verandah initially enjoying the fabulous views and glorious evening sunshine. A sudden thunderstorm meant we had to dash inside for dessert though and we were treated to a double rainbow afterwards.
We really enjoyed our mini break, thank you Andy and Helen for looking after us so well, enabling us to recharge our batteries for the second leg of our journey.
